This is a higher-power photomicrograph demonstrating the cellular infiltrate within the interstitium. There is some degeneration (coagulative necrosis) of tubules and glomeruli.

An infiltrate is an accumulation of cells in the lung parenchyma--this is a sign of pneumonia.
