RADIOLOGY: BREAST: Case# 32941: ADENOSIS. Screening mammogram. Close up of one area of the mammogram reveals numerous round, diffusely distributed calcifications. Adenosis is one cause of diffuse calcifications seen on mammograms. Adenosis is a benign proliferation of the terminal lobule. Usually there is no mammographically detectable mass. Occasionaly clusers of calcification may occur, requiring biopsy. Florid cases may cause diffuse calcification, as in this case.
