RADIOLOGY: BREAST: Case# 33606: GALACTOCELE. 26 Year old female with a palpable mass in the breast. Close up of a mammogram shows a well circumscribed lesion containing mixed fat and fluid density. The galactocele probably results from an obstructed milk duct. They occur durring or soon after the cessation of nursing. Radiographically they may be indistinguishable from other fat containing lesions. The mottled appearance seen in this case has been described as looking like "curdled milk". Fat fluid levels may be seen in upright lateral mammograms (example below).
