WHY BE A MEMBER? PLEASE READ ON....

The Society for Cardiovascular Pathology is an incorporated organization devoted to advancement of understanding, diagnosis, and ultimate prevention or treatment of cardiovascular disorders. First organized in 1985 and incorporated in 1986, the Society now includes over 200 active members representing a wide range of biomedical research and discovery interests in cardiovascular health and disease. The expertise and activities of the membership range in focus from diagnostic anatomical pathology to investigative and educational pursuits. The Society is truly international, with members in at least 13 countries. The Society is authoritative in the field of cardiovascular pathology, and many of the members are leaders in clinical, integrative and basic research into processes affecting cardiac and vascular components of the circulatory system.

Our primary goals are educational and collegial. The Society holds Companion Status with the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and organizes a half-day companion symposium at the yearly USCAP meeting in March. Recent topics have included the pathobiology of atherosclerosis, the heart in sudden death, and the systemic vasculitides. The Society also presents a Distinguished Achievement Award and a Young Investigator Award at an annual banquet held at the USCAP meeting. Partnerships with other scholarly organizations including FASEB have brought new opportunities for multi-disciplinary synergism.

Scholarly activity of members and non-members may be published in the Society's official journal Cardiovascular Pathology, published bi-monthly by Elsevier. The Journal is entering its sixth year and is widely indexed. A quarterly newsletter (COR Notes) has kept members advised of important Society news, meetings, and other useful information; CORNOTES is now incorporated into the Journal.

Our members include pathologists, basic scientists, cardiologists, surgeons, MDs, PhDs, and DVMs. Educators and investigators alike are united by a common interest in the basis of cardiovascular disorders.
