The Society for Cardiovascular Pathology is an incorporated organization devoted to the advancement of the study of cardiovascular disorders. First organized in 1985 and incorporated in 1986, the Society now has over 200 active members, representing a wide range of interests in the field of cardiovascular medicine, surgery and pathology. The activities of the Membership range from diagnostic anatomic pathology to investigative work and education. The Society is truly international, with members in 13 countries. Society members include many of the foremost authorities in the field of cardiovascular pathology.
Our primary goals are educational and collegial. The Society has Companion Status with the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, (USCAP) and organizes a half-day companion symposium at the yearly USCAP meeting in March. Recent topics have included the pathobiology of atherosclerosis, the heart in sudden death, and the systemic vasculitides. The Society also presents a Cardiovascular Pathology Achievement Award and a Young Investigator Award at a banquet at the USCAP meeting.
Scholarly activity is supported through the Society's official journal Cardiovascular Pathology, published bimonthly by Elsevier. (See SCVP publications).
Our members include pathologists, cardiologists, surgeons, MDs, PhDs, and DVMs, educators, and investigators, united by a common interest in the cardiovascular disorders.
