The Richard C. & Annette N. Shelby Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Building is a $90 million, state-of-the-art, 12-story facility which opened on the UAB campus in March 2006.


With over 340,000-square foot of research space, the opening of the Shelby Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Building increases UAB research space by 25%, bringing the amount of research space on campus to over 1.4 million square feet.  An increase in $100 million extramural funding is expected with this research expansion.
