Research is centered on extracellular matrix control of normal and cancerous cell movement and growth.

Cell adhesion and migration are involved in the development and function of almost every organ, and are essential for blood pressure maintenance, bone remodeling, nerve network building, and tumor metastasis. Typical student projects investigate the mechanisms involved in abnormal adhesion and migration that contribute to pathological states of different diseases.
