The PEIR Digital Library (http://peir.net/pdl) is an online, open-access repository of 45,000+ multidisciplinary images for educational use in medical and health science education.
The PEIR Digital Library was developed at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Pathology under the supervision of Dr. Peter G. Anderson, Professor and Director of Pathology Undergraduate Education, to facilitate image search and retrieval and to foster the development of instructional resources among health science educators.
Images are searchable by collection, image type, and keyword. The PEIR Digital Library search engine incorporates the National Library of Medicine's Medical Thesaurus to maximize database query results.
