| I was born in Zachary, a small town near Baton Rouge in Louisiana. Since then, I lived all over the southeastern United States, though I spent most of my time in Tennessee. I returned to Louisiana during my undergraduate years at Tulane, where I studied Cell and Molecular Biology and Latin and "studied" the unique culture of New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina struck during my senior year, and, as a result I spent my fall semester at UAB before returning to Tulane in the spring to graduate. Clearly, I liked it enough to come back. |

I work on several projects that revolve around bone, osteoclasts, and macrophages. In particular, I am researching the role a protein that is highly expressed on macrophages plays in the metastasis of prostate cancer to bone. I am also working on an ongoing project to discover new drugs for the treatment of osteoporosis through the inhibition of the formation and bone resorptive activity of the osteoclasts.
