After graduating from the University of Alabama in 2002, I had the opportunity to work in the Head and Neck Cancer Research Laboratory at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Working in a research laboratory enabled me to realize that I enjoy and appreciate critical thinking
that is integral to the scientific process.

It was fascinating to study oral cancer and explore disease processes. Following my initial laboratory experience, I entered the Molecular and Cellular Pathology PhD program at UAB to pursue my interests in the mechanisms of disease. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, volunteering for Magic Moments, playing tennis, working in my yard and watching any Alabama Crimson Tide sporting event.
