General Research Interests:

Bone and cancer research

Insulin resistance is central to the pathogenesis of Type 2 Diabetes (T2DM), the Insulin Resistance Syndrome (IRS), and cardiovascular disease, and presents a heavy burden of patient suffering and health care costs. The immediate cause of insulin resistance involves defects in the insulin-stimulated glucose transport system in skeletal muscle, although underlying mechanisms have not been fully elucidated.

My overall interest is to study the insulin effects on gene expression, signal transduction and fuel metabolic pathway
in the skeletal muscle.
