RADIOLOGY: GASTROINTESTINAL: GI: Case# 32883: SYSTEMIC LUPUS, DIFFUSE COLONIC THICKENING. 16 year old female with background of SLE with prednisone 5 mg per day who now presents with a two day history of nausea, vomiting and bloody diarrhea. There is marked edema of the wall of the large bowel extending from the rectum to the cecum. The thickness of the bowel wall measures 1.5 to 2 cm in maximal dimension. There is no pneumatosis coli nor free intraperitoneal gas. Free intraperitoneal fluid is seen within the pelvis. The small bowel appears normal. The liver, spleen, pancreas, gallbladder, kidneys and adrenals outline normally. There is no paraaortic lymphadenopathy.
