RADIOLOGY: PANCREAS: Case# 32858: NECROTIZING PANCREATITIS. 23 year old morbidly obese female with a history of gallstones and a recent ERCP. The images are degraded by the patients body habitus. The majority of the pancreas does not enhance after contrast administration and contains a large amount of gas. Inflammatory and phlegmonous changes are seen surrounding the pancreas. The gallbladder is opacified due to the recent ERCP. Arterial phase scanning through the pancreas can demonstrate those areas within the pancreas that enhance indicating preserved pancreatic parenchyma. Areas which do not enhance and which display liquefaction are likely to be necrotic.
