About/Help > Design: The Case-Based Approach

IPLab is a case-based learning system in which each lab module consists of several patient case studies. Each case study is composed of:

• Clinical summary & autopsy/surgical findings
• Gross & microscopic pathology images and descriptions
• Study questions and answers

The case-based approach allows the student to learn the basic concepts of pathology within a clinical context, thus aiding in the development of clinical reasoning skills.
