| Follow-up Test |
The D-dimer is the preferred assay for disseminated intravascular coagulation, but it may be used together with the fibrin (ogen) degradation products tests to distinguish DIC from primary fibrinolysis. Other DIC assays include the fibrinogen assay, APTT, PT, and platelet count. |
