These assays are available from the UAB Coagulation Service to detect and monitor liver disease and the coagulopathies associated with liver disease. Select each for further information.
Fibrinogen functional assay
Select also the factor V assay* and the factor VII assay to differentiate liver disease from vitamin K deficiency.
*The name of the "factor V assay" is regrettably similar to the "factor V Leiden mutation assay." Please click on "confusing test names" for more information.
Select also the Reptilase time and the thrombin time to detect liver disease-related dysfibrinogenemia. For recommendations and consultation, contact the UAB Coagulation Service.
